why did molly weasley have kids named bill, charlie, percy, fred, george and ronald and then call her last one ginevra

somethingsuitablywittyandmorbid

They’re all derivatives of the Knights of the round table. Ginevra comes from Guinevere.

You don’t suppose Molly is short for Morrigan, do you?

This is such a lovely idea but I don’t think it’s true at all to be honest. I can’t find Arthurian characters remotely similar to anyone beyond Percy and Ginny. The closest for even William is ‘Ulfius’. It’s actually kind of amazing how UNLIKE any of the Arthurian knights/characters are like William/Bill, Frederick/Fred, George or Ronald - there isn’t even a Roland which for some reason I had thought there was. They’re closer to all being named for English kings than Arthurian knights (but still no Ron).
